SEO Services
SEO services in India cover everything that helps the right customers find your business in Google and other search engines: a website that search engines can read, pages that answer real questions, a strong local presence and the trust other websites place in you. Done well, search engine optimisation brings steady, qualified visitors without paying for every click.
This guide explains how SEO services work in plain language, what each part includes, how long results realistically take, what mistakes to avoid and how to choose a partner. It is written by a consultant who works on business websites every week, and it links to our detailed guides on technical SEO, on-page SEO, local SEO and off-page SEO and link building.

What SEO services actually include
Search engine optimisation is not one task. It is four connected disciplines, and a good SEO strategy balances all of them rather than leaning on a single trick.
- Technical SEO makes sure search engines can crawl, render and index your pages, and that the site is fast and secure. Without it, even excellent content may never appear in results.
- On-page SEO shapes each page so that it matches what people search for: keyword research, titles, headings, content depth, images and internal links.
- Local SEO helps nearby customers find you on maps and in local results through a complete Google Business Profile, consistent listings and genuine reviews.
- Off-page SEO builds the authority and trust that come from other reputable sites mentioning and linking to you.
Around these sit reporting, content planning and, increasingly, preparing your content to be understood and cited by AI-powered search features. If you want to see how your own site fares today, our free SEO tools are a sensible first step before you talk to anyone.
Why SEO matters for Indian businesses
Search is where purchase decisions begin. A customer in Pune looking for an accountant, a buyer in Delhi comparing CRM software and a shop owner in Kolkata searching for a web designer all start with a query. If your business is absent from those results, a competitor takes the enquiry.
SEO has three advantages over most other channels. First, it compounds: a page that ranks keeps earning visitors month after month, unlike an advertisement that stops the day the budget ends. Second, search visitors arrive with intent, which usually means better conversion than casual social media traffic. Third, it builds an asset you own, because your content, your site structure and your reputation stay with your business.
SEO also has limits. It takes months, not days. It cannot rescue a poor offer or a confusing website. And nobody, however experienced, controls Google's rankings. Anyone promising a guaranteed first position is either misleading you or using tactics that search engines penalise.
How search engines work, in plain terms
Understanding the basic pipeline helps you judge any SEO advice. Search engines discover pages by following links and reading sitemaps, which is called crawling. They then analyse and store what they find, which is indexing. When someone searches, they select and order indexed pages by relevance and quality, which is ranking.
Problems can occur at each stage. A page blocked by a robots rule is never crawled. A page that is crawled but judged duplicate or thin may not be indexed. A page that is indexed may still rank poorly if it does not match the searcher's intent or lacks credibility. Good SEO diagnoses which stage is failing before changing anything. Our guide to technical SEO walks through the first two stages in depth.
E-E-A-T and why trust now decides rankings
Google asks its quality raters to look for Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trustworthiness, usually written E-E-A-T. It is not a single ranking factor you can switch on, but it describes what helpful, reliable content looks like, and it explains many ranking differences between similar pages.
In practice, strengthening E-E-A-T means:
- showing who wrote each page and why they are qualified, with a real author profile;
- demonstrating first-hand experience, such as original screenshots, worked examples and honest limits;
- citing reliable sources and keeping information up to date;
- making the business easy to verify, with a real address, contact details, policies and reviews;
- keeping the site secure and free of misleading claims.
This applies most strongly to topics that affect money or wellbeing, but it is good practice everywhere. The pages in this cluster follow it: each names its author, lists its sources and states what it cannot promise. Google explains the thinking in its guidance on creating helpful, reliable, people-first content.
The SEO process we follow
Whatever the size of the site, a sound engagement follows the same order. Skipping steps is the usual reason SEO disappoints.
- Discovery. We learn what you sell, who buys, which locations you serve and what a new customer is worth. Without this, keyword targets are guesses.
- Audit. We crawl the site, review indexing in Search Console, check speed and mobile usability, and study the pages that already bring traffic.
- Keyword and intent research. We map the questions customers ask to pages, separating informational searches from commercial ones.
- Fix the foundations. Technical errors, duplicate pages, redirects and slow templates are resolved first because they hold everything else back.
- Improve and create content. Existing pages are strengthened before new ones are added, and each new page has a clear purpose in the site structure.
- Build authority and local presence. Listings, reviews and genuine mentions follow a plan rather than a shortcut.
- Measure and adjust. Monthly reporting ties rankings and traffic to enquiries, and the plan changes with the results.
How long SEO takes and what to expect
Honest timelines depend on competition, the age of the site and the starting condition. As a rough guide, technical fixes can show effect within a few weeks once search engines recrawl. New or improved content often takes two to four months to settle. Authority from links and mentions builds over six months or longer. Competitive national terms can take much longer than local or specific queries.
Early signs of progress include more pages indexed, more impressions in Search Console, rising positions for long-tail keywords and more branded searches. Revenue follows these signals, not the other way round. Be wary of any report that celebrates rankings for terms nobody searches for.
Common SEO mistakes that cost businesses months
- Chasing one keyword. Pages that target a single phrase miss the many related questions customers ask. Semantic coverage of a topic works better than repeating a phrase.
- Buying links or using automated tools. Search engines treat paid and manipulative links as spam, and recovery can take longer than the original gain lasted.
- Ignoring mobile speed. Most Indian searches happen on phones, often on slower connections. A slow page loses visitors before it loads.
- Thin or copied content. Pages that repeat what others say add nothing and rarely rank.
- Changing the site without redirects. A redesign that breaks old addresses can erase years of accumulated visibility.
- No measurement. Without Search Console and analytics set up properly, you cannot tell what is working. Our analytics and tracking set-up guide covers this.
How to choose an SEO partner
The best question to ask a prospective SEO provider is how they would approach your site, not what they would promise. Look for clear answers on the following points.
- Transparency. You should receive an audit, a written plan and regular reports in plain language, and you should own every account created for you.
- No guarantees of rankings. Credible providers promise process and effort, not positions.
- Ethical methods. Ask how they earn links and create content. Vague answers about "secret networks" are a warning.
- Relevant experience. They should be able to explain what they did for a similar business and what the measured effect was, without exaggeration.
- Fit with your goals. A local clinic and a national software company need different strategies. A provider that sells the same package to both is not thinking about you.
At My Advisers we work as a consulting partner. You buy any third-party tool directly, and we charge only for our own consulting and work. Technology consulting is free through our Apply Form, and hands-on work can be requested as a paid service from our pricing plans.
SEO and paid advertising work better together
SEO and Google Ads are not rivals. Advertising delivers immediate visits and valuable data about which phrases convert, which can then guide your SEO content plan. SEO, in turn, lowers your long-term reliance on paid clicks. Many businesses start with both and shift the balance as organic visibility grows. For the content side, see our guides to blog and article writing and website and landing-page copy.
SEO for the age of AI search
Search is changing. Google and other engines now show AI-generated summaries for many queries, and people also ask AI assistants directly. The fundamentals stay the same: pages that are crawlable, clear, accurate and trustworthy are the ones these systems can use. In addition, clean structure, direct answers to common questions, accurate structured data and a clear identity for your business make your content easier to quote correctly.
We treat this as part of technical SEO and on-page SEO rather than a separate trick. Publishing genuinely useful guides, as this site does, remains the most reliable investment.
What it costs and how to budget
Costs vary with the size of the site, the competition and how much work is hands-on. Rather than quote figures that would date quickly, here is how to think about the budget. Separate one-off work, such as an audit and technical fixes, from ongoing work, such as content and link earning. Decide what a new customer is worth so you can judge the return. Start with the fixes that unblock everything else, and add content and authority work in stages as results justify it.
Beware of providers who price by the number of keywords or links. Good SEO is priced by the work that is needed, and it should come with reporting that lets you judge it.
Where to start
If you are unsure, begin with an honest audit of the basics: is the site indexed, is it fast on a phone, does each key page have a clear purpose and are your business details consistent online? Then choose the discipline that addresses your biggest gap. Local businesses usually start with local SEO. Sites with many pages but little traffic usually need technical and on-page work first. Established sites that have plateaued often benefit most from off-page SEO.
Whichever you pick, ask us for a free conversation first through the Apply Form. We will tell you honestly what is worth doing and what is not.

Frequently asked questions
What are SEO services?
SEO services are the work that helps a website appear in unpaid search results. They normally include a technical audit and fixes, keyword research, page optimisation, content planning, local listings and ethical link earning, along with reporting.
How long does SEO take to show results in India?
Technical fixes can show effect in weeks after search engines recrawl, content usually takes two to four months to settle and authority takes six months or longer. Competitive terms take longer than local or specific queries.
Can anyone guarantee a number one ranking on Google?
No. Rankings are decided by search engines and change constantly. Providers who guarantee positions are either misleading you or using methods that risk a penalty.
Is SEO better than Google Ads?
They do different jobs. Ads give immediate traffic that stops when the budget stops, while SEO builds visibility that compounds over time. Most businesses benefit from using both and shifting the balance gradually.
Do I need local SEO if I sell online?
Local SEO matters most for businesses with a location or service area. Online-only businesses benefit mainly from technical SEO, on-page SEO and authority building.
What should I ask before hiring an SEO company?
Ask for their process, how they earn links, what reporting you will receive, who owns the accounts and what they will not do. Avoid anyone who guarantees rankings or will not explain their methods.
